What Matters Most

“Please forgive me,” “I forgive you,” “Thank you,” and “I love you”.
(Ira Byoc, ‘The Four Things That Matter Most’)

A greater understanding
Knocks on your door
Every now and then
And when you open the door
You fall, you fall all the way in
Taking a plunge into the depths
Of your loving heart
Oh, no, it is not easy
Tears may be shed
Shedding a light
Into what matters most
The lessons of that moment
The sorrows that may surface
The forgiveness demanded
The clearing and the clarity
It is love, it is love
It is love that matters most
Our shared Spirit

And in that moment
The walls break around your heart
You feel again, you feel again
Such profound meaning
Our relationships carry
A greater understanding
Knocks on your door
Every now and then
So open, open the door
Take the plunge

And when you come to the surface again
Bring what matters most with you
Our shared Spirit
Our Love

The Width

“I don’t want to get to the end of my life and find that I have just lived the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well.”
(Diane Ackerman)

One of those mornings
Pondering, wondering
The minutes after meditation
Quiet calm
And nourished feelings
Out of my mind’s sky
This quote comes to mind
Reminds me of the depth of Life
Reminds me that today
At least just for today
I will see past the form
I will remember the connection
Our shared humanness
I will get out of my head
And feel the Quiet Calm
Of this Universe
The Depth of Life
The Width
The Unseen
Nourishes us All
Every moment
Every breath
I hope that you, too
Go within

xoxo
