Human Family

I pray for a more loving human family

Even when I meet a stranger
Each time I have the same feeling:
“He is another member of my human family.”
Such an attitude deepens
My affection and respect for all beings.
May this natural loving kindness
Become my small contribution to world peace!
I pray for a world that is more friendly,
More loving, and for a better understanding
Among the human family, on this planet.
That is the appeal I make from the bottom of my heart
To all those who hate suffering
And cherish lasting happiness.

Words to chew on today.

This Strange Happiness

“Happiness is strange; it comes when you are not seeking it. When you are not making an effort to be happy, then unexpectedly, mysteriously, happiness is there, born of purity, of a loveliness of being.” (Jiddu Krishnamurti)

You can’t try to sleep
You simply sleep
You can’t try to awaken
You simply wake up
All your efforts
Create more resistance
Maybe the time has come
To be okay, to be okay
Just as you are

So Simple

“I always consider myself personally one of seven billion human beings. Nothing special. So, on that level, I have tried to make people aware that the ultimate source of happiness is simply a healthy body and a warm heart.” (Dalai Lama)

And the truth
Is usually quite simple
A healthy body
A warm heart
Are all you need
Remember that we all
Are exactly the same
Our inner worlds
Intertwine and intersect
No one is really
That separate from you
And the truth
Is usually quite simple
So simple

Share the warmth of you heart today.
